Safe Harbor DORMITORY & DOCK  Tour  

   

Each boy lives aboard  his own boat, giving him private quarters while he is at Safe Harbor

with over 50 boats in the water there is a large variety of vessels, both sail and power to choose from

 He learns to operate his boat and others by practicing docking, practicing maneuvers in a small area, until he becomes quite skilled.

 They move to learning navigation, and they he is allowed to take a short trip in his boat to the downtown area of Jacksonville

  They progress to longer outward bound trips, with many overnight trips occurring throughout the year; the staff  follows in their boats.

The  friendship and camaraderie these trips build is truly amazing, as is the self confidence, self discipline, and appropriate pride

 the boys gain by captaining their boats

  Piloting their own yacht while people watch as they masterfully dock their boats with precision and skills captains admire

 Over the past 25 years  many of the boys of safe harbor have been employed in the yachting industry

 Safe Harbor has boys who are captains of  Mega Yachts all over the world

 With the variety of skills they learn at Safe Harbor, they are very attractive to employers in many industries

While Safe Harbor Boys Home seeks to help each student achieve their goals
upon program completion they leave with enough skills to immediately enter the management level of employ
